MGFPA Distributes 75,000 Face Coverings in partnership with FEMA and MEMA

The Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association proudly partnered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to distribute 75,000 cloth face coverings. To further protect the health and safety of our industry, MGFPA worked to coordinate statewide distribution to our local grocers, markets, and supermarkets as well as co-packers, dairy processors, and local food manufacturers.

In an effort to ensure Mainers remain safe, healthy, and fed, our association was pleased to serve as a liaison between government programing and the private business sector. “We promptly secured a significant allotment of the cloth face coverings and seamlessly disbursed the much-needed (and required) PPE to our industry. We look forward to continuing to serve our members and partners during this challenging time, and as we look ahead to the future”, said Christine Cummings, Executive Director.

As stated within a May 18th press release from Governor Mills, “MEMA and the CDC continue to receive shipments of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for essential workers and are working to prioritize distribution of those shipments statewide. Approximately 631,521 pieces of PPE have been delivered through coordination between MEMA and Maine CDC to date.”
