AUGUSTA — Maine Departments of Labor (MDOL) and Education (DOE) launched the Youth Employment and the Steps to Success Initiative (YES) earlier this year to create awareness around the reciprocal benefits of youth employment and to help address the state’s workforce needs in this era of historically-low unemployment rate and tight labor market. This week, the Senate overwhelmingly passed their version of the farm bill in a bipartisan 86-11 vote, which will set up a House-Senate conference to reconcile the two chambers’ bills. Both the House and Senate will be out of session next week for the July 4th district work period.
